In the wild
After three unpaid years, Hala was fired over a text, had her key cards cut, and was told colleagues would be fired for talking to her. Within days she registered a site, taught herself to code, and recruited 14 women off Twitter and Craigslist to form a hip-hop blog collective.

After building HPE Spirit Week for 300,000 employees, Hala was denied the global young-employee-network presidency and kicked off the board. Rather than fight it, she decided that if she couldn't lead 7,000 young employees she'd lead 7 million young professionals herself.
