The SERHANT Brand Strategy System builds a personal brand in three connected phases. First, define a core identity by examining what people associate with you now, choosing the intersection you want to own, and setting a two-year destination. Second, turn that identity into consistent content shaped by the community you want to serve; consistency matters more than any single medium. Third, amplify the work by sharing early wins, collaborating with established people or brands, and framing success around the client rather than self-congratulation. Each phase feeds the next: identity attracts a relevant community, community signals what content matters, and visible results increase trust and demand.
Origin
Ryan Serhant developed the system from his own branding failures, then taught it to his New York sales teams and salespeople across industries before turning it into Branded Like Serhant.
Core principles
- 01A brand starts with a deliberately chosen core identity.
- 02Community should shape the content you create.
- 03Consistency creates recognition and reveals what resonates.
- 04Visible success attracts more attention, trust, and opportunity.
How to run it
- 1
Define your core identity
Ask what you are known for today without using your name, then choose the intersection Serhant calls your “and.” Set a realistic two-year North Star for what you want that association to become.
Pro tip Ask an honest friend who is not afraid of upsetting you to describe you without using your name.
Watch out Do not begin with colors, fonts, or a logo; those should express the identity, not substitute for it.
- 2
Create consistent content
Build a community around the chosen identity and let its responses guide the medium and subjects you use. Publish or reach out at a repeatable cadence, at least a couple of times each week.
Pro tip Give every post a purpose, such as engagement, education, fundraising, or lead generation.
Watch out Do not let fear of embarrassment stop the repetitions required to discover what sticks.
- 3
Amplify visible success
Share your earliest creations and wins across social channels, collaborations, and relationships. Describe the client’s achievement so the post communicates proof without becoming empty self-congratulation.
Pro tip Create brand awareness by proximity through useful work for people or brands your audience already knows.
Watch out Constantly touting yourself can become annoying; make the customer or collaborator the hero.
In the wild
Serhant wanted to replace an accidental reputation for looking at the ground with an intentional association with confidence. He then extended that identity toward luxury real estate, luxury sales, and leadership while using consistent media and visible deals to reinforce the progression.
→ His chosen associations became a recognizable brand supporting a global real-estate and sales-training business.
After completing a business sprint, a consultant posts that it was amazing to watch the client’s progress and that they cannot wait to see what the client achieves next. The client remains the focus, while the audience also learns that the consultant completed another successful engagement.
→ The post supplies social proof without reading like direct self-congratulation.
Common mistakes
Starting with visual identity
Choosing a logo or color before defining the brand’s foundation produces decoration without a coherent meaning.
Publishing without community feedback
Assuming you already know what will resonate prevents the audience from revealing the distinctive content it values.
Hiding early successes
Waiting for a major achievement delays the awareness and social proof that smaller wins could already create.
Is it for you?
Best for
Entrepreneurs, freelancers, and salespeople who need a recognizable personal brand to generate demand.
Not ideal for
People unwilling to publish consistently or make their work and results visible.
