Three Ps Fulfillment Check

Review peace, presence, and purpose each week to steer toward fulfillment

Define success as fulfillment rather than recognition, then review three conditions that support it: peace, presence, and purpose. Peace asks whether your practices and choices reduce inner conflict; presence asks whether you attended to the people and moments directly in front of you; purpose asks whether you lived in alignment with what you feel called to do. Run the check weekly, identify the weakest P, and choose one adjustment for the next week. Repetition turns an abstract desire for a whole life into a lightweight scorecard that can redirect behavior before external success crowds out what matters.

Origin

Shelton credits his mother with teaching him that purpose, peace, and presence create fulfillment. He now checks all three every week to judge whether he is moving toward the life he wants.

Core principles

  • 01Fulfillment defines success better than notoriety
  • 02Peace requires deliberate practices
  • 03Presence means attending to what is in front of you
  • 04Purpose means living the calling expressed through your life

How to run it

  1. 1

    Check peace

Review when you felt whole and settled and when anxiety or conflict dominated the week.

Pro tip Consider which practices, such as nature, meditation, or prayer, affected the result.

Watch out Peace does not require the absence of every difficult emotion.

  2. 2

    Check presence

Assess whether you were attentive to family, other people, and the moment in front of you.

Pro tip Notice when a phone or distraction displaced direct experience.

  3. 3

    Check purpose

Ask whether your actions expressed the calling and betterment you want your life to serve.

Pro tip Judge behavior, not identity claims.

Watch out Do not confuse status or recognition with purpose.

  4. 4

    Choose the correction

Identify the weakest P and schedule one concrete adjustment for the next week.

Pro tip Choose an action small enough to repeat.

  5. 5

    Review again

Repeat the scorecard weekly and look for direction rather than perfection.

Pro tip Keep a short record so recurring gaps become visible.

Watch out Do not turn the check into another status competition.

In the wild

A weekly fulfillment reset

A creator reviews the week and sees that purpose-driven work was strong but family conversations were repeatedly interrupted by the phone. Presence is the weakest P, so the creator schedules device-free dinners for the coming week and reviews the result on Sunday.

An abstract fulfillment goal becomes one observable behavioral correction.

Common mistakes

Scoring only external success

Recognition can rise while peace, presence, and purposeful behavior deteriorate.

Reviewing without adjusting

A scorecard changes direction only when the weakest area produces a concrete next action.

Is it for you?

Best for

It is best for people whose external success metrics can obscure peace, relationships, and meaningful action.

Not ideal for

It is not ideal as a replacement for specific financial, health, or professional measures where those are necessary.
